ShorTimr Clock for Windows

ShorTimr is a Windows Clock application originally designed as a
gag gift for a co-worker who was to retire in a few months.
Everyone kept kidding this poor fellow so much about leaving the
company after 35 years, that he, in good nature, began keeping
track of the time he had remaining down to the hour.  Every time
you'd pass him in the hall, he would look at his watch and
calculate how long he had left.  This application was developed
to provide better accuracy by calculating his remaining time
down to the second.

ShorTimr also operates as a standard Windows clock, virtually
identical in appearance to the digital clock application originally
supplied with Windows.  It may be minimized or used as a small
desktop clock.  The colors & fonts are selectable to suit the
taste of the user.  Alarm and reminder screen functions have
also been added.


Setting Up the Target Date

Configuration of the target date is accessible via a dialog box
selected from the ShorTimr menu.  The description of the target
date effects the background display by depicting the time difference
between the specified target and the current PC clock.

The target date is specified by selecting the appropriate Time,
Month, Day, & Year from the dialog controls.  A description of
the target event may be supplied in the approriate Edit control.


Configuring the Icon

Several menu options are available for customization of the
appearance of the ShorTimr application in the minimized state.
The default configuration displays the application as an icon
similar in appearance to the original Windows Clock.  Options
exist to select the colors and fonts as well as the ability to
use the application as a desktop clock located at a designated
spot on the display.  If the desktop option is selected, the
size of the icon is determined by the font used and whether or
not the date is displayed with the time of day.  The icon may
be positioned on the display using drag & drop.


Configuring the Background Display

ShorTimr can display the time remaining in Months or Weeks as
determined by a menu selection.  If Months are selected, they
are counted from the current day to the same day of the following
month.

Menu options also allow the font selection for displaying backgound
data.


Scheduling Reminders

ShorTimr maintains a list of reminders configured by the user to
occur on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis.  Reminders may
be in the form of pop-up dialog boxes, WAV sounds, or the execution
of another application.
